Wood Roof Repair Swampscott

Enjoy the natural beauty of a wood roof.

wood roofNatural wood roofs have been protecting Swampscott homes for centuries. Wood shingles are aesthetically pleasing and provide natural beauty. At one time, the vast majority of homes in America were protected with natural wood roof shingles.

Today, homeowners choose wood roofing for a variety of reasons — the traditional look, a desire to use natural materials, historic accuracy. Due to variations in the color, width and thickness of wood shakes and shingles, no two wood roofs are the same. With proper care and maintenance, a wood roof can provide attractive and reliable protection for your home.

Cedar is the most commonly used wood in North American these days for roofing. Cedar roofing comes in two varieties — shingles or shakes. A shingle is tapered and smooth on both surfaces. A shake is split to reveal the uneven natural grain of the wood on the face and is usually much thicker than a shingle.

When considering a wood roof in New England

Wood roofs are naturally beautiful and long lasting, provided the roof is designed and installed along very strict guidelines. Because Mother Nature is most unforgiving of this completely organic material, it is critical to demand the best design, the proper materials and full trained craftsmen. GF Sprague provides all three elements for the successful construction of a wood shingled roof.

Wood Roof Repair in New England Options

Wood shingle roofs should be inspected and maintained every 3-5 years. Your existing wood shingle roofs can be repaired repeatedly, which can add years of protection to your home. We can give you a full assessment of your roof’s condition and recommend options for keeping that great wood look for as long as possible.

Contact us for a free estimate today by calling 781-455-0556.

GF Sprague has been building, repairing and maintaining wood roofs for 40 years; we are confident we can take good care of your wood roof.

Hi,I am working now 30 years in the Green Roof business and brought the technology over from Europe in 1999 (even before). I never did anything else but green roofing based on my extensive horticultural family history. At the beginning in 1999- there was no real market in the US to sell any green roof related services. At this time it was more important to convince people (companies) to start a production to supply the green roof industry since there was nothing here and plants can’t be shipped from Germany. Once convinced these people also acted like an amplifier for the technology and Ed is certainly one person how does boost the technology the most professional way to benefit his company while educating others. Ed always was and still is a great student but also a perfect teacher. On the other side Ed convinced me to start a company in the US providing my knowledge – what I did with another German expert since 2003. We started in Maryland by building an office in Ed’s barn – today his office since it has a great karma. Marylanders don’t know what they have in their state and how this industry will continue to grow. Imagine getting the same market as currently in Germany there will be an annual green roof construction of more than 100 million sqft. Putting all current green roofs in Germany together it would cover easily 4 times the entire island of Manhattan or probably most mayor American cities.
